At Zwartwoud, circular working starts with the question of what is already there. Existing furniture and materials are given a second life in the new interior. Because you build circularly with a greener future in mind, and you want to see the results. That is why we record what is reused and recycled for every project: mapped waste streams, a CO2 passport, and a Bill of Materials. How we work together on your new store
Discussing ambitions and possibilities
Together with the client and designers, we start by defining the concept, the ambitions, and the possibilities for circularity and reuse.
Inventory, harvest, and store
We take stock of what is already there, determine what can be preserved or harvested, and can temporarily store furniture and materials at our own storage facility.
Feasibility and preparation
Together, we bring together material choices, reuse, planning, budget, and technical feasibility.
Engineering and production
We provide technical design development, create new applications for reclaimed materials, and produce custom work in our own workshop.
Project management and realization
We coordinate supply chain partners, production, logistics, and installation, ensuring manageable execution even while the office remains in use.
Delivery and aftercare
We ensure a meticulous delivery and remain involved in any necessary adjustments or additions.

Frequently asked questions
How quickly can a store reopen after a renovation?
That depends on the scale and the concept, but minimizing downtime is a core part of how we work. We plan the renovation as tightly as possible and think ahead about how to keep the store closed for the shortest time possible: that is exactly what our project teams focus on.
Do you also work with our own interior architect?
Yes, that happens regularly. Often, the architect provides the concept and we join the process for further development and full, turn-key execution, including future-proofing the concept for the years to come.
Can you also roll out multiple locations simultaneously or sequentially?
Yes. Whether it concerns a single store or a formula with dozens to hundreds of locations, we monitor the schedule and budget for each location and ensure the formula remains recognizable, even with local adjustments.
Is sustainable working possible within our existing retail formula?
Often yes, and it doesn't have to be more expensive. Sometimes it is even more cost-effective. We look specifically at what fits within the concept and aesthetics, rather than imposing a standard approach.
What happens after delivery: do you stay involved?
Yes, and that is exactly where we distinguish ourselves. Formulas continue to evolve: a new shelf, an adjusted concept, and we want to remain the partner that moves along with that, not just at the initial delivery.
We don't have any experience with circular working: is that a problem?
Whether circularity is already high on your agenda or has come your way through laws and regulations, we will determine together which ambitions fit the project and make the possibilities concrete. From inventory and harvesting to reuse, material choices, and providing insight into impact, we guide the entire process step by step. We take care of the technical substantiation, such as material passports, CO2 figures, and a Bill of Materials. For this, we mainly ask for clarity regarding your ambitions and budget.
